Oracle of bones
A PERSONAL DIVINATION SYSTEM FOR WITCHES, POETS, AND DREAMERS
Initiation means to begin. When the shadows of summer come for us, our memories of our many descents and risings become muse. We seek the symbols that mark our personal myths. We collect our bone wisdoms, those deep truths that seem to echo in our depths. We leave our sunlit dreamscapes and follow the silver thread of fate into the underworld, stitching our stories from our joys and our griefs, our small deaths and our many initiations.
In this one-day, 3-part event, participants will create their own 52-card oracle decks, using mythic images, their own stories, memories, and visions as muse. This is a life-scape oracle, a handcrafted, personal system of divination to be lovingly nested within any witch, seer, or maker’s toolbox.
RECOMMENDED MATERIALS FOR ALL SESSIONS:
RECOMMENDED MATERIALS FOR ALL SESSIONS:
1. A pack of blank (unlined) index cards. They usually come in packs of 100, which would be plenty. You’ll need 52 cards total, but it would be good to have at least 10 for “oops” moments. 3x5 cards are large enough, but 4x6 would work, too.
2. One good marker or ink pen (plus maybe at least one back-up)
3. Additional (more optional) materials: Crayons/colored pencils/chalk pastels, either an ink stamp OR stickers to make the back of the cards uniform
Here is a packet that provides an overview of the cards and spreads, but it is NOT necessary to have this printed for the class. If you know you like to have things printed rather than on the screen, then go for it:

ORACLE OF BONES
Session One: THE BONES OF INITIATION
In the first session, participants will work with initiation stories to create the first 13 cards in their deck using their own personal mythology as muse. Danielle will introduce the strange stages of initiation and the core, mythic symbols of these stages, inviting participants to see where their story weaves with the old tales of descent, shapeshifting, and renewal. They might become selkie, deer-woman, or a Goddess of Descent. Their own grandmother might become the healer hag. The imagery and poetry for each card will emerge from a Mythic Pathworking Ceremony during which the participants will be invited to meet the 13 initiation symbols in their own way, in their own sacred dreamscape.
Session Two: THE BONES OF SEVERANCE AND TRANSFORMATION
In the second session, participants will create the second two suits in their oracle deck, following the thread of fate to see their many severances and transformations. Danielle will lead participants through a mythic writing practice to mine the memories that want to be found. This is a potent session of trusting the knowing field and the wild unseen, to re-member and reframe old stories to be teachers in the here and now, the once and future.
Session Three: THE BOOK OF RENEWAL
In the third session, participants will finish their decks by completing the final suit, the Bones of Renewal. This session culminates in a deep “lifescape divination” practice when participants will use their completed decks to structure new stories, to divine messages from past initiations, and to scry in the scars and the stars. Participants will learn and apply their own 3, 5, and 10 card spreads and consecrate their deck in ritual. Together, we will create prophecies of our own becoming, re-visioning the past and envisioning the yet-to-come.
An optional sharing circle will take place from 3:30pm-4pm ET. Live participants can choose to stay on for this extended portion of the program (the sharing circle will not be recorded).
