Our Heathen House of Becoming
Word-Witchery, Envisioning, and Personal Mythwork for Strange Solstice Days
Welcome to the House of Becoming. Here, we are living altars built from ancestral myth and unpolished stories. We are flesh-and-bone visionaries, and this may be our most heathen solstice yet. May these peculiar days bring us deep and delicious dream-visions of a season spent wild, of sacred swims and moonlit mischief, of slow-to-set suns and oracular dawns, of fireside song and pagan drums, of creaturely nourishment and infinite delights.
For both sessions, bring a journal, writing utensil, and your wild imagination.
Session One: THE WRITER’S HOUSE OF BECOMING
During this first session, Danielle will introduce one of her most invaluable tools as both a Witch and a writer. Participants will encounter and “build” their House of Becoming, coming to know their uniquely bizarre psychic landscape and uncovering some of the mysterious truths buried there. Danielle will share a wide spectrum of possibilities for working with the House of Becoming in both spellwork and writing, including removing creative blocks, meeting the muse, re-membering that thing we might call “the past,” and participants will create their “solstice myths” for dream-visioning during these peculiar times.
Session Two: THE POET-WEAVER’S ALTAR
Participants will be introduced to a potent variation of The House of Becoming and be gifted with key puzzle pieces for a larger piece of work; this might be a series of poems, a novel, a memoir, an ancestral legacy book, or a short story. Together, we shall trace connections between these puzzle pieces and mythology, discussing the possibilities for altar-building, time-weaving, and embodied writing rituals based on “seed moments” and symbols received during the pathworking experience.
